Sivan 5786 סיון

17 במאי — 15 ביוני

In the month of Sivan, as we prepare to receive the Torah, our studio becomes a space for reflection, listening, and creative discovery. Children explore the imagery of mountains, sky, and light through watercolor painting, textured collage, and large-scale collaborative murals inspired by Har Sinai. Through the artistic process, students are invited to consider what it means to gather together, to listen deeply, and to experience moments of wonder and revelation in their own lives.

Another Sivan project centers around the idea of words as sacred vessels. Using clay, printmaking, and hand-lettering techniques, students create personal “Torah fragments” inspired by meaningful Hebrew words and values such as kindness, courage, peace, and gratitude. By shaping letters with their hands and layering them into tactile works of art, participants develop a deeper connection between creativity, language, and personal expression.

In honor of Shavuot and the agricultural themes of the season, the studio also fills with natural materials, floral studies, and projects inspired by the first fruits of the harvest. Children work with pressed flowers, botanical sketches, and mixed media sculptures to explore themes of growth, abundance, and renewal. These projects encourage close observation of the natural world while grounding Jewish learning in sensory, hands-on creative experiences that feel joyful, meaningful, and alive.
